LIVING NATURE
Landscape and Sustainability
Edifício dos Leões in dialogue
with the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga

In a second part of an exhibition triptych entitled «The Building of the Lions in Dialogue with the National Museum of Ancient Art», in collaboration with Banco Santander, the MNAA presents the exhibition «Natureza Viva: landscape and sustainability». Starting from the birth of Landscape as a human invention, between the symbol, the contemplation of an ideal nature or the terrible sublime, a reflection is proposed on the relationship between Man and the world that surrounds him, through works from the MNAA collections , from the Santander Portugal Foundation and Fundacion Santander Espana, and also featuring important contemporary Portuguese artists. A journey through five centuries of European art, from Arcadian landscapes to the fascination for ruins, from rural scenes to the industrialized world, from naturalism to an explosion of Nature transformed by Man, assumed in its strength and its fragility.
