The exhibition focuses on the study and analysis of the pigments used to obtain the various colours seen in the works of art on display and their cultural and symbolic contexts.
It begins with an exceptional group of liturgical vestments – which form the main interpretive nucleus – and then expands into the permanent exhibition, inviting the visitor to explore a vast territory in terms of chronology and geography (from Europe to Japan), and to appreciate over the course of the journey, the presence and distinguishing features of the materials which, in diverse situations, give colour to objects that are equally diverse in their typologies and origins.
