MNAA IS HERE
Project taking place outside the MNAA in various locations
2025/2026
As part of the closure of the MNAA due to the Recuperar Portugal: Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), the Museum presents the project ‘MNAA IS HERE/MNAA ESTÁ AQUI’ with the aim of showcasing the countless pieces in its collection deposited in various museum institutions throughout the country, from north to south, as well as in the archipelagos of the Azores, Madeira and Porto Santo.
A century-old institution, the MNAA has around 40,000 pieces in its care, which it has always shared with other national institutions. Some of these works of art are deposited in museums on the mainland, such as the Paço dos Duques de Bragança in Guimarães, the Museu de Aveiro, the Leiria Museum, the Francisco Tavares Proença Júnior Museum in Castelo Branco, the Monastery of Santa Maria de Flor da Rosa in Crato, the Church of Santiago do Castelo in Palmela, and the Museum-Library of the House of Bragança in Vila Viçosa. The same is true on Terceira Island, in the Azores archipelago, at the Angra do Heroísmo Museum and the São Lourenço Palace in Funchal (Madeira Island).
