As part of the closure for the refurbishment campaign programmed in Recuperar Portugal: Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR), the MNAA will close to the public on 29 September. Work is planned in three areas of the building: on the 2nd floor, dedicated to the collections of goldsmithing, jewellery, ceramics and expansion arts, the museum equipment is to be updated, as well as the respective exhibition discourse; in the European Art Gallery, the signage and museography will be redesigned and updated; the building renovation project will include the roofs and the conservation of the façades. The conservation and restoration campaign of the Capela das Albertas continues, however, and its reopening is also subject to the PRR calendar.
This is a unique moment and opportunity to prepare the Museum for the next decade, with the hope that the reopening will provide visitors with a more inclusive and accessible facility and an updated understanding of our collections.
During the last week of opening, from 22 to 28 September, admission to the Museum will be free.
See you soon!
