The National Museum of Ancient Art (MNAA) in Lisbon will partially reopen on 21 November, following its closure since 29 September 2025 for renovation works carried out under Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Closed since 29 September 2025 for works funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the MNAA will reopen to the public on 21 November at 3:00 p.m. with renewed facilities. An extensive programme of activities has been planned for the reopening weekend, including the inauguration of the International Decorative Arts galleries, the opening of temporary exhibitions, guided tours and workshops, as well as concerts, taking place on Saturday (3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and Sunday (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Admission will be free from 21 November to 1 December inclusive. From that date onwards, entry to the MNAA will be subject to the museum’s standard admission fees.
Under the PRR framework, the MNAA’s renovation programme received €8.5 million in funding for conservation and improvement works to the north façade, the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the roofs of the former Alvor Palace wing, the renewal of the exhibition programme on the second floor dedicated to International Decorative Arts, the complete restoration of the Albertas Chapel, and the technological upgrade of the MNAA auditorium.
