On this sheet of paper, used partly to try out the brush, while observing the effect of the contrast of the washes with the gouache, two magnificent groups appear almost in the form of coloured patches. The dematerialised forms were drawn with the brush, without any outline or delineation, using a rapid and concise chiaroscuro brushstroke technique, which the artist mastered in exemplary fashion.
It is not, however, known what these patches refer to: in the top group there are possibly two women with two children, while, in the other patch, two even more imperceptible figures embrace one another.
