Group of Friends of the MNAA

The Group of Friends of the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, GAMNAA, was created in 1912. According to the group’s statutes, its aim is “to contribute, support and work with the museum’s governing bodies in the production, development and promotion of its programmes and similar activities”, namely through a systematic policy of donations to the museum, making a decisive contribution to the enrichment of its collections. The association also undertakes its own activities designed to make an independent contribution to the achievement of its objectives.


Enrolments
Enrolments require the presentation of an application that is then considered by the respective governing bodies. There are no enrolment charges, just an annual fee that varies according to the type of membership applied for:


Individual
Full member – €35,00
Benefactor – €105,00
Domiciled abroad – €35,00


Company
Full member – €210,00
Benefactor – €630,00
Headquartered abroad – €105,00


People aged 65 or over
– €30


Students aged 25 or under – €25


Spouses – €25


Each full member will be given a card.


Members’ duties are to
a) collaborate insofar as possible in the Group’s initiatives and activities;
b) perform the duties of the office to which they are elected;
c) pay membership fees promptly;
d) honour their status as a member and defend the prestige and dignity of the association.


Benefits
Members are entitled to:
a) benefit from any activities or special advantages created through the relationship between the Group and the Museum;
b) free admission to the Museums and Palaces dependent on the DGPC;
c) participate in all of the Group’s initiatives and activities, to which they will always be invited (voluntary actions, lectures, conferences, concerts, etc.) Free invitations and privileged access to all initiatives promoted by the museum. Guided tours and other initiatives exclusive to the Group of Friends of the MNAA;
d) guided tours (exclusively for members) of thematic exhibitions at the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga or other museums;
e) organised trips in Portugal and abroad for cultural purposes;
f) discuss, participate and vote at General Meetings, as well as to serve as an officer of the association;
g) 10% discount at the MNAA shop;
h) 10% discount at the MNAA restaurant;
i) extended visiting times only for friends of the museum.


Tax benefits
Under the terms of the legislation currently in force, the annual fees paid by members of the Group of Friends of the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga automatically benefit from the regime established in the Tax Relief Regulations (article 61 and following). The Tax Relief Regulations were republished in an annex to Decree-Law No. 108/2008, of 26 June, and subsequently altered by Law No. 64-A/2008, of 31 December.

Wokshop - "MNAA - A Botanical Perspective"
17 and 24 of February and 10 and 17 of March 2018/Saturdays
Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga

This workshop, promoted by GAMNAA and directed by Luís Mendonça de Carvalho, intends to revisit the works of art of the MNAA using a botanical perspective. It will help identify the plants represented, learn their origins, history and symbology, and study the raw materials used in art. This workshop is developed in 4 theoretical-practical sessions and with visits to the galleries of the Museum
